ALTERNATIVE SIMILAR TO GALVANIZING
Thermal / flame spraying is a process that uses a concentrated heat source to liquify zinc or aluminium wire into a flame at the end of a nozzle. Air pressure then concentrates the molten particles towards the prepared surface to be coated. As these particles impact the surface they rapidly solidify and the required deposit thickness is built up giving a sealer coat equivalent to galvanising between the steel surface and paint coats.
The advantages of using this process is that spraying the hot molten zinc eliminates the distortion of hollow sections of metal and no fettling or grinding is required as with galvanising.
SURFACE PREPERATION
To achieve the correct surface profile for the zinc to adhere to the project it is essential that all surfaces requiring metalisation are shot blasted to a standard of SA 2.5.
