Powder Coating:
Basically, powder coating is paint in a powder form. Powder coatings are used when a hard decorative finish is required. Almost anything capable of holding a small electrical charge can have powder applied to it. Once applied the coating is then cured by heating to 200 degrees in a large industrial oven.
Oven Dimensions:
4m long X 2.9m wide X 2.6m high and has access at both ends for ease of production.
Application:
Powder can be applied to interior and also to exterior items including architecture and fencing. Powder coatings are capable of withstanding extreme environments. They can also be used over galvanised steel but this tends to leave a rough, not very attractive finish. In our opinion a far superior finish is achieved over thermal spray which is an excellent alternative to galvanizing and provides a uniform flat/smooth surface for the powder coating to adhere to.
The advantages of powder over conventional paint:
POWDER COATINGS:
1. Contain no solvents
2. Emit no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)
3. Can produce much thicker coatings without running or sagging
4. Overspray can be recycled and reused (no wastage)
5. Production lines produce less hazardous waste than conventional liquid coatings
Colours and textures
A wide range of Colours are available in surface textures such as gloss, matt, hammered or textured.
